Bishop Hollis Musgrove, a Laurel native, is pastor of the Liberal Trinity Church of God In Christ and is bishop of the First Jurisdiction of the Church of God In Christ in Southern Mississippi.  Prior to his appointment as bishop, he served as First Administrative Assistant to Bishop Theo Davis, 1982-1991; Second Administrative Assistant to Bishop, 1976-1982; State Secretary, 1964-86; District Superintendent, 1970-86; District President of the YPWW Department, 1958-1970; Vice-President, Southern Mississippi Church of God In Christ Corporation, 1968-80; and Chairman of the Executive Board, Mississippi Southern First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Church of God in Christ, 1986-89.

Pastor of Liberal Trinity since 1975, he is the founder of the Vossburg Church of God In Christ, Vossburg, Mississippi; built the St. Mary Church of God In Christ (Laurel #3), Laurel, Mississippi; renovated the Lightsey Church of God In Christ, Lightsey, Mississippi; St. Mary Church of God In Christ, Pascagoula, Mississippi; Decatur Church of God In Christ, Decatur, Mississippi; Laurel#1 Church of God In Christ, Laurel, Mississippi; and Belt Temple Church of God In Christ, Hattiesburg, Mississippi.  

Since his appointment much has been accomplished in the jurisdiction.  He has improved the financial status; renovated the State Headquarters; spearheaded an annual Leadership Conference for all members of the jurisdiction; initiated a Pastor's Retreat; upgraded jurisdictional auxilliaries; reactivated the Theo Davis Scholarship Foundation, Inc., which provides academic scholarships to students in the jurisdiction; acquired $10 million in property; organized approximately twelve new churches; and created two new districts.

As pastor of Liberal Trinity, he has upgraded and developed the church auxilliaries and units; purchased modern office equipment; purchased a church van ( personally donated); built a beautiful edifice ("The Blue Palace") with a wooden floor and a seating capacity of 700 and a fellowship hall with a capacity of 200; resurfaced the parking lot; and enhanced the financial status of the church.  Bishop Musgrove has also established the Liberal Trinity Development Foundation, Inc.  Through his efforts, the Foundation  has purchased property  surrounding the church and renovated several homes for the elderly saints.  He is currently working to develop a Senior Citizens Complex, a modern facility that will provide love and care for the saints in their golden years with a wholesome and spiritual environment.

Bishop Musgrove received his high school education from Oak Park High School in Laurel, Mississippi.   Upon graduation, he joined the United States Army and gave 38 months of honorable service.  He later enrolled at Alcorn College (now Alcorn State University) in Lorman, Mississippi.  With an upward mobility to further his education in
theology and improve his ministry, he studied at the Charles Harrison Mason Systems of Bible College, Memphis, Tenneessee, and recieved a pastoral theology in  1978.

Bishop Musgrove is involved in many community and civic organizations.  He is President of the Liberal Trinity Development Foundation, Inc; a lifetime member of the Oak Park Alumni Association; a member of the Ministerial Alliance of Jackson; a member of the Board of Directors of Saints Academy in Lexington, Mississippi; and a
member of the Jackson State University Ministerial Group.  He has been designated as "Man of the Year", "Father of the Year", and "Bishop of the Year" of the Church of God In Christ.

He is married to the former Bernice Wallace. They are the parents of three children, Deborah M. Yancy, Jackson, Mississippi; Hollis Musgrove, Laurel, Mississippi; and Faye Musgrove, Mobile Alabama; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
